The Tapestry Murals

The saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" is about art. But today, "a creative experience is worth a thousand pictures." In a show about artists on PBS, a female artist stated that in the future the only real art will be performance art. She then stood opposite a man with a large bow and arrow between them. He loaded the arrow and aimed it at her heart. Both grasped the bow, he the string and arrow, she the bow itself. Both leaned back, balancing and depending completely on each other. Any lack of trust and cooperation would have resulted in the release of the arrow. They stood like this, looking into each others eyes, for 45 minutes. It was very hard to keep watching. You experienced every emotion imaginable and came through the experience changed. That is performance art. When we do artistic work for clients, we are performance artists. We facilitate change and healing in their lives. We artists need and create these experiences.
