The Enid Symphony Center for Music and The Arts, Enid, Oklahoma

This beautiful space, locked up for 50 years, with incredible 18th Century French and Italian architecture is becoming Enid, Oklahoma's Cultural Center housing a 60 piece orchestra, an 18th Century French Theater and recital hall, a public Art Gallery, and a community Banquet Hall. All you see and more was accomplished in three 10-day workshops. With the assistance of The Day Studio this forgotten space became an extraordinary experience of professional decorative artists and screened local volunteers working together to create the highest level of 18th Century decorative art. An 18th century restoration of this scope would not be affordable except for community/artist projects like this one. Day Studio artists receive a per diem for food and lodging and pay for transportation and their class. The on-the-job training is an invaluable link to success in handling real life job situations. To participate in jobsite workshops, the prerequisites required are Day Studio Stone & Marble/Design and Trompe L'Oeil/Murals.

Finishes included elegant Venetian Plaster walls in a faux brocade damask, lapis lazuli marble columns and 22kt gold leafed Ionic capitals, 4 huge tapestry murals of life size dancers and musicians in the Caravaggio style, a 50-foot wide stage mural with trompe l'oeil theater curtains, balustrades, vistas and life size 18th Century musicians. In the dramatic Egyptian Lobby the ceiling was gilded and elaborate wall finishes, murals and columns were decorated.
